IE will not install a root certificate

You may need to install a self-signed certificate to IE, as Trusted Root so that you can avoid all the security errors that having a self-signed certificate brings with it.

Here's how 

Start > Internet Explorer > Run as Administrator > Tools > Internet Options > Content > Certificates > Trusted Root Certification Authorities > Import > (select file) > Next > OK, and Windows reports Import Successful

Restart IE.

You should now be able to install the certificate.
